The Power of Prayer

If you aren't into the spiritual stuff just move on. Don't bother to read this. I only talk about this because it "coincidentally" involves the same grandson who I featured last week.

It was last Friday, approaching midnight, when my wife got a sobbing call from our daughter. She was at the hospital because our grandson "K" was fighting for his life. This is the same grandson whose photo I shared last week. Seven hours earlier "K" was playing in a public facility and forgot to wash his hands before eating. He caught a very aggressive virus that spread to his system. My daughter was in deep sleep when she heard gurgling sounds from "K" who was sleeping beside her. He was stiff and convulsing. He was foaming at the mouth and his eyes rolled back. His lips were blue and he had a 104 degree temperature. The paramedics were called and he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

What do you do in a situation like this? What CAN you do? Immediately, I started texting all of my Christian friends, asking for prayers. In a few minutes a chain of prayer warriors were activated despite the wee hours of the morning. The doctors were doing their job and we had done all that we could. A friend from Texas asked if there was anything else that she could do and I realized she was texting me at 3 AM (her time) and told her to go to sleep. "God has already heard all our prayers, it's in His hands now" I assured her.

You can pray and cross your fingers and hope for the best or you can pray and be assured that (whatever comes) will be what God thinks is best. Big difference. One hopes for luck, the other understands the power and love of God and trusts His intervention.

By morning, "K" was transferred out of the emergency room and he was hungry and was asking for french fries and chicken nuggets. That's when we knew the worst was over and God favored to bless us.

Years from now, "K" will probably forget that day but we certainly will not. Because it was the day, "K" could have gone home to the Lord.

Lessons learned? Wash before eating. Share your burdens. Pray without ceasing. Accept God's decision. Life is a precious gift that comes with an expiration date.

Thanks to all who prayed and thank you God for more years to enjoy my grandson.

Lightning Strikes River

If you have any doubts about the power of nature This video is of DRY Thunderstorm lightning that causes the majority of Forest Fires. It appears that the video was filmed from a stationary remote camera. Notice where the lightning strikes the river bank, then into the river and downstream. Also note how the lightning actually dug a trench, evidenced by the roiling brown water.

Add me to your prayer chain, Raoul. My faith is strong. God has been by my side my entire life.

My daughter was in the critical cardio intensive care unit for almost 3 months in late 2015 to early 2016. Her ejection fraction was at 10%. I cried, I railed at God. I wasn't angry, but my heart was breaking. Hardest time in my life. I wasn't ready to lose my daughter. A huge prayer chain was in started - from friends, family, loved ones and strangers. My daughter is still alive today. Her ejection fraction has minimally improved. She had a defibrillator implanted in April last year and is on a plethora of meds. She has been stabilized. I am grateful for every day I have her. I don't know how long God will bless me with her presence on earth, but I thank him everyday she wakes up. She leads a modified normal life. I am blessed. So yes, add me to your prayer chain.

Indeed , sooner or later, our lives do have an expiration. My brother’s step son past away just a few days ago to be with the lord from an epileptic attack. He was in his late 30’s.

I'm so thankful that your grandson is fine now. I'm so sorry that you had to go through all that trauma and am glad your prayers sustained you.

That story got me thinking. I have always been opposed to children sleeping with their parents, because I think it keeps them from growing up and it's not fair to the parents. But if your grandson hadn't been sleeping with his mother, she may not have known that he was in distress. So I guess there are arguments in favor of little ones in their parents' beds.

Wow! That is so very scary! I am thankful that 'K' fought and that God blessed 'K' and the entire family. Poor little boy and his parents, grandparents, and all that know and love him dearly. I prayed and thanked God for giving 'K' the blessing of life and the the love of his family.

Thanks Bro for sharing this story. It reminds me how precious life is and how much we love Him, our family and friends.
